Upgrading Your Plan
You can change your BuildVoiceAI plan at any time from the billing page. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades apply at the end of your current billing cycle.
How to Upgrade
- Go to Billing in the sidebar
- Click Upgrade Plan
- Select the plan you want to move to
- Confirm the change
Your new plan features are available immediately after confirmation.
Prorated Billing
When you upgrade mid-cycle, BuildVoiceAI calculates a prorated charge:
- You receive a credit for the unused portion of your current plan
- You are charged the prorated amount for the new plan for the remainder of the cycle
- Starting next cycle, you pay the full new plan rate
Example: You are on Starter Self-Service ($67/mo) and upgrade to Growth Self-Service ($147/mo) halfway through your billing cycle.
- Credit for remaining Starter days: ~$33.50
- Charge for remaining Growth days: ~$73.50
- Net charge at upgrade: ~$40.00
- Next month: $147.00 (full Growth rate)
Prorated amounts are calculated down to the day. The exact amounts depend on when in your billing cycle you upgrade.
What Changes When You Upgrade
Starter to Growth
- Client limit increases from 3 to 10
- CRM integrations unlocked: GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Google Calendar
- Custom domain available
- Full analytics dashboard
- Advanced workflow actions
Growth to Agency
- Client limit increases from 10 to 25
- A/B testing (experiments) unlocked
- API access for custom integrations
- Full feature set
Self-Service to Managed (Same Tier)
- Guided onboarding assistance
- Priority support response times
- No feature differences; only the support level changes
Feature Unlocks
After upgrading, new features appear automatically in the dashboard:
- Integrations page shows newly available CRM connectors
- Settings shows the custom domain option (Growth+)
- Agents shows the experiments tab (Agency)
- Client list allows creating clients up to the new limit
No additional setup is required to see the new features. Existing data and configurations are preserved.
After upgrading to Growth, the first thing most agencies do is connect a CRM integration. Head to Integrations to set up GHL or HubSpot.
Downgrading Your Plan
To move to a lower tier:
- Go to Billing
- Click Change Plan
- Select the lower tier
- Confirm the change
How Downgrades Work
- The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle
- You keep all current-tier features until the cycle ends
- When the new cycle starts, features above your new tier are disabled
- No prorated refund is issued for the current cycle
Before You Downgrade
Review these potential impacts:
| Concern | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Clients over the new limit | Existing clients are preserved but you cannot create new ones until you are below the limit |
| CRM integrations | Connections remain but stop syncing. Reconnect if you upgrade again. |
| Custom domain | Domain is disconnected. Clients revert to the default portal URL. |
| A/B experiments | Running experiments are paused. Data is preserved. |
| API access | API keys stop working until you upgrade again. |
If you have more clients than the lower tier allows, you will not lose those clients, but you will be unable to add new ones. Consider archiving inactive clients before downgrading.
Switching Between Self-Service and Managed
You can switch between Self-Service and Managed variants within the same tier. The process is the same as any plan change:
- Self-Service to Managed — Charged the difference prorated. Priority support starts immediately.
- Managed to Self-Service — Takes effect at end of cycle. Saves the monthly difference going forward.
